DIRIX (2025)
Tile pattern design for a Bel-Etage house.
Pictures by Ushua Goeminne.
The original concept for this project was to create a continuous floor design using Winckelmans tiles across the bathroom, kitchen and hallway. Using a carefully chosen color palette, I’ve developed a custom pattern that visually connects these different spaces. In reality, only the bathroom has been completed.
For this space, I defined a specific color palette in which each color represents a zone within the room. The pink area marks the “wet” zone, the brown line frames and highlights the vanity unit, and the green corner indicates a flexible zone that can be used to put a laundry basket, plant or other uses.
The result is a playful and dynamic space, referring to traditional sports halls, where colored lines define areas for different sports and activities.
